About us

We are a technology platform of ETH Zurich and, as a section of the Engineering and Systems Department, part of the Vice President for Infrastructure.

As ETH Zürich's one-stop-shop for workshop services, techpool is the central point of contact and coordination for all workshop matters. techpool accepts workshop orders, advises ETH members on design issues and ensures appropriate and timely production in ETH Zurich's own and external workshops.

In addition to its core tasks, techpool supports the organisations with the following activities:

• Supervision of the workshop and coordination of concerns in the area of workshops within the Dübendorf Innovation Park (DFA)
• Accompanying the workshops towards digitalisation and Industry 4.0
• Optimisation of the workshop processes
• Preparation of expert reports for the Equipment Commission
• Apprentice training as a techpool rotation position in the area of AVOR / order processing
• Production of manufacturing items on the computer-controlled milling and turning machine used jointly with the SPH
• Training students on various machines
• Advising the central bodies on workshop issues
• Customer and supplier management
• Sitting on the coordinated procurement committee for workshop goods
